Léa lives in Le Havre, where she attends college whilst taking care of her elderly grandmother. To make ends meet, she works as a waitress in a night club. Her admittance to the Institute of Political Studies in Paris offers her new opportunities, but at a high price. Léa finds work as a striptease artist, so that each evening she can put into practice the theory of economic liberalism which she learns by day…

A few hours in Paris, one summer evening in 2020. The camera follows one passer-by then the other, traveling through the streets of the city and multiplying curious encounters: eccentric young people, original characters and nonconformists. During a single uninterrupted shot, the camera links the characters together through the same city, and the same time in crisis that each one goes through and questions in their own way.

British sad sack Gary is a failed entrepreneur who has just arrived in Beijing’s stylish Sanlitun district, allegedly to start a business. Steven Keats plays a Russian emigre who prides himself on the way he’s molded himself into a real Yankee in the USA, though the world he lives in, New York’s Lower East Side in the late 19th century, is almost exclusively populated by other Jewish immigrants. When his wife (Carol Kane) finally arrives in the New World, however, she has a lot of assimilating to do. This causes the tension which drives the movie along, though it maintains a fairly light atmosphere most of the time.

After several years of living with a cult, Martha finally escapes and calls her estranged sister, Lucy, for help. Martha finds herself at the quiet Connecticut home Lucy shares with her new husband, Ted, but the memories of what she experienced in the cult make peace hard to find. As flashbacks continue to torment her, Martha fails to shake a terrible sense of dread, especially in regard to the cult’s manipulative leader.
