One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan in mind, to kickstart civilization with the power of science!

Ren Homura returns to his former residence, yet he feels very uncomfortable: he possesses no memory of having lived there. Without warning or his permission, a game called “Monster Strike” installs itself into Ren’s smartphone; monsters of the game then literally fly out from his smartphone and start fighting on streets. Watching the fighting in amazement, Ren starts picking up his lost memories.

Monster Strike: The Movie serves as a prequel to the net anime series based on the game of the same name. The anime tells the story of Ren, who returns to his hometown with no memories of having lived there. When a a cell phone repairman installs the Monster Strike app on his phone, Ren finds himself pulled into a real-world version of the game and begins piecing his memories together again.
