The widow of a wise professor stumbles upon one of his inventions that’s able to record and play a person’s memory.

The story of an old Jewish widow named Daisy Werthan and her relationship with her colored chauffeur Hoke. A crew of Martians overhears a radio broadcast of Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds” coming from Earth, and, thinking the Martian fleet is attacking Earth, they land their broken-down ship in a backwater mid-American town. As luck would have it, they land on Halloween and get mistaken for trick-or-treaters. Comedy ensues as the Martians try to get taken seriously.

The two fall in love, and that complicates hit jobs. His good influence extends to breeding in her a conscience that places love over business, unlike Bob’s agency.
